I got turned on to Democracy Now! about 3 years ago while doing a stint trimming weed in Northern California. Sitting around a table with other anarchist gypsies helping fuel the black market and listening to the most honest reporting in North Amerika is one of my fondest memories of the last 5 years. Of course it also helps that I was there because of a woman that I was absolutely in love with. (still am, although we're no longer together.) Listening to Amy Goodman helped spurn me on to becoming a producer of a nationally distributed news show of my own. Our show, the (Asheville) Global Report, was eventually featured on Free Speech TV and was in rotation the second most of any show, only behind Democracy Now! Unfortunately, the show is now headquartered in San Francisco, so my involvement is now limited. But I'm still a huge fan of Democracy Now! and consider Amy Goodman one of my heroes. Turns out she'll be in New Orleans on April 10th giving a talk about her new book. And I'll be leaving NOLA just a few days before....DAMN! But, go check her out if you have a chance....
